Abstract
Article Summary
Ergot alkaloids are a diverse family of indolederived mycotoxins that collectively have activities against a variety of organisms including bacteria, nematodes, insects, and mammals. The influence of sodium p-octylbenzene sulfonate on ergot-alkaloids fermentation by some fungal strains such as Claviceps africana L-320, Claviceps fusiformis L-322, Claviceps paspali L-324, Claviceps purpurea L-326, Claviceps sorghi L-328 Claviceps zizaniae L-330, Claviceps lutea L-332 has been assessed. The most prominent member of this group is Claviceps purpurea. It has been found that the fungal strain of Claviceps purpurea L-326 attracts much attention for good ergot-alkaloids producation. It has been found that maximum ergotalkaloids, i.e., 1010mg/L has been obtained from 230g glucose which is 10.382% higher in comparison to control at 7.0×10-5M molar concentration of sodium p-octylbenzene sulfonate under optimised parametric condations such as 290C temperature 5.0, pH and 8 days of optimum incubation period.
